3 Point / Mounted Dry Fertiliser Spreaders
Dry fertiliser spreaders apply chemicals to the ground in dry or granular form, adding nutrients to the soil and enhancing plant growth for various types of crops.
Read More (About Dry Fertiliser Spreaders)Dry fertiliser spreaders add nutrients to the soil by applying fertiliser on the ground in dry, granular form to enhance plant growth. These machines can be easily distinguished from liquid fertiliser spreaders by a number of prominent features including hoppers or wagons, augers, conveyors, spinning mechanisms, and other components they use to apply dry fertiliser through a broadcast spreader mechanism or boom.
By contrast, liquid fertiliser spreaders often use subsoil applicators such as knives, coulters, discs, and injectors to slice into the ground, inject liquid fertiliser directly into the soil, and then cover it up. Some dry spreader systems can apply nutrients in banding and/or side-dressing style. Some manufacturers offer spreaders that can be used for either dry or liquid application, and some existing dry or liquid models can be modified with a conversion kit to offer both capabilities.
Dry fertiliser spreaders are typically used in the spring before planting or in fall after harvest. They come in both pull-type, or trailed, and three-point mounted varieties; pull-type spreaders typically offer a larger product capacity than mounted models. The variety of available sizes and designs let you select the size and capacity best suited for the application, from large farms to orchards, vineyards, groves, small acreages, and other growing environments. Capacities for mounted dry fertiliser spreaders often range from around 1,000 to 4,000 litres (264 to 1,057 gallons), while trailed models can provide up to 15,000 L (3,963 gal). Some spreaders support the use of extra or tractor-mounted bins to expand the amount of product they can carry and apply between stops to refill. Others can make use of one or more separable bins to simultaneously apply multiple products.
Recent technological advances give operators more precise control, allowing them to fine-tune application rates and alter them on the fly. For example, operators can set an application rate and the spreader can automatically adjust application speed according to the forward speed, so the application rate remains steady at varying forward speeds. Variable rate control can also be connected with an automated guidance system to apply differing fertiliser levels on specific fields and crops. GPS guidance can also help avoid overlapping spread patterns.
