Features such as rugged row units that can better withstand a variety of soil and residue conditions and improved hydraulics that automatically adjust the up and down pressure provide more accurate seed placement.

Other innovations enable farmers to use technology to find the best meter settings from a mobile device or even turn specific rows on or off to avoid skips and overlaps, leading to gains in both efficiency and yield. Newer models also come with a variety of options for blades with ripple, bubble, or flute edges to work in various types of soil, as well as planters designed to work with various levels of in-field residue.
