Yanmar Highlights V80 Compact Wheel Loader Updates, New Stage V Engine

Posted On: Friday 30 August 2019

Yanmar’s V80 compact wheel loader now comes with an EU Stage V/US EPA Tier 4-compliant engine with more torque and power, but lower emissions and fuel consumption. (2018 model pictured above.)

Yanmar is drawing attention to the updated version of its V80 compact wheel loader, which it showcased in April at the bauma show in Munich, Germany.

Most notably, the upgraded V80 comes with a new generation, EU Stage V/US EPA Tier 4-compliant Yanmar engine. The new motor supplies more torque (241 newton metres) and power (63 horsepower, 46.2 kilowatts), while simultaneously reducing emissions (by up to 90%), cylinder displacement, and fuel consumption. The engine uses improved combustion and injection systems to meet emissions targets along with a DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst). A DPF (diesel particulate filter) is available by request if not included as standard equipment.

    Pounds To The Ground

The Yanmar V80 has a tipping load of 3,770 kilograms and an operating weight of 4,900 kilograms. The loader measures 5,060 millimetres in length, 1,850 in width, and 2,640 millimetres in height.

The manufacturer says the V80’s loading angle remains constant as the bucket is raised thanks to a parallel kinematics system. Yanmar improved visibility to the attachment among the loader’s other updates. Third and fourth electric proportional control circuits facilitate the use of hydraulic attachments.

The V80’s hydrostatic transmission affords it a standard maximum travel speed of 20 km/h, or 36 km/h in a high-speed edition. The transmission gives the loader a high rim pull for pushing or digging, Yanmar says, and good travel performance even on high-grade slopes.

Yanmar designed the V80’s 40-degree articulated steering and 10-degree slewing rear axle for a tight, sub-2-metre turning radius and overall manoeuvrability. Only the rear axle oscillates, instead of the entire rear end as in models from other brands. This and other design choices improve traction while avoiding surface damage, the company says.

    Inside The V80

A 3.5-inch display design helps the operator monitor the V80’s functions, while redesigned controls in a newly optimized arrangement make the unit easier to run. The Smart Control operating system recalls individual user and application settings accessible through its friendly keypad. There’s electric proportional control for front-end slewing, as well as for the hydraulics through a thumbwheel on the joystick.
