The all-new T7 XD series debuts several firsts for New Holland tractors, including an integral tyre inflation system and a transmission capable of 60 km/h (37 mph) road travel. The new range has three models in the high-power category:

    • T7.360 XD: 360 horsepower (265 kilowatts)
    • T7.390 XD: 390 HP (287 kW)
    • T7.440 XD: 435 HP (320 kW)

Each has a high power-to-weight ratio and the ability to operate with or without ballast, as well as a new wheel weight design. New Holland is catering to large-scale farmers and contractors with the new T7 XD range, which has a maximum gross vehicle weight of up to 19,000 kilograms (41,900 pounds).

“The T7 XD will extend the compact design, versatility, and excellent power-to-weight ratio characteristics of our T7 family into the high-horsepower segment,” says New Holland T7 Global Product Manager Richard Hollins. “The new range will appeal to customers looking for that all-round capability, from heavy field work, demanding PTO or hydraulic tasks, to high-speed haulage; the T7 XD has the features that can deliver this.”

    T7 XD Engine Details

New Holland uses an 8.7-litre FPT Cursor 9 diesel engine in the T7 XD range, as it does in some of its other high-horsepower tractor models. The Stage V, 6-cylinder motor uses an electronic variable-geometry turbocharger and intercooling to conserve fuel, along with a low 1,400-rpm torque peak and 650-rpm idle setting. For braking assistance, the T7 XD’s engine retardation system includes an exclusive cylinder decompression feature.

The FPT engine is mounted on a structural sump rather than support rails. This not only reduces vibration but also contributes to greater manoeuvrability and even operator visibility because it allows for a narrower tractor waist. The engine’s 750-hour service interval is 50% longer than some of the T7 XD’s competitors, New Holland says. Additionally, the T7 XD’s 680-litre (180-gallon) fuel tank is 13% bigger than the tank used in the T7 HD range, which equates to more time between fill-ups.

    T7 XD Transmission Details

New Holland installed a new 60-km/h version of its Auto Command continuously variable transmission (CVT) in the new tractor line, giving T7 XD models faster road speed with low engine rpm. A low transmission oil level—facilitated by an external oil reservoir—increases the CVT’s efficiency, especially at higher travel speeds. The CVT has a 4x2 range design and a stepped manual control function that enables powershift operation as needed.

Central Tyre Inflation System: First In The T7 XD

The T7 XD tractor family is New Holland’s first to feature centralised tyre inflation, giving the operator the ability to adapt tyre pressure to conditions without leaving the cabin. For instance, the gear-driven, high-capacity, 2-cylinder air compressor can inflate the tyres to maximum pressure for road travel, then let some of their air out in the field for better traction or lower ground pressure. The convenient central inflation system allows the use of increased flexion (IF) and very high flexion (VF) tyres to increase the area of tread contact with the ground and reduce damage to loose or muddy soil.

T7 XD Suspension & Hydraulics Notes

New Holland made the T7 XD’s new front linkage quite compact to keep mounted implements close to the tractor for better agility and balance. The new linkage can lift up to 6,100 kg (13,450 lbs) and has two double-acting spool valves at its service, as well as an optional 1,000/1,000E-rpm power take-off (PTO).

For ride comfort, the T7 XD platform has a new Terraglide independent front axle suspension with anti-roll and anti-pitch logic. The tractors have a stability-enhancing wheelbase of 3,190 millimetres (126 inches).

The T7 XDs feature oil-cooled, inboard front brakes and New Holland’s Intelligent Trailer Braking System to mitigate the potential for jackknifing. The tractors’ rear linkage has an 11,942-kg (26,328-lb) lift capacity (8% more than on the T7 HD series), up to five double-acting high-flow remote valves, and an optional hydraulic system for Power Beyond implements. A MegaFlow double hydraulic pump supplies up to 360 L (95 gal) per minute, a 67% increase over the T7 HD range.

    The T7 XD’s Cab

New Holland equipped the T7 XD range with a new Horizon Ultra cab for greater operator comfort. The cabin’s improved suspension and frame isolate it from chassis vibrations and reduce cab roll. The noise level in the cab is a mere 68 decibels, while visibility is aided by a 260-degree wiper on the front windscreen and new rear fender lights trained on the drawbar.

T7 XD tractors come with standard connectivity and support New Holland Intelligence, the company’s new wireless machine management software. They come with an IntelliView 12 touchscreen, which can control ISOBUS implements and enable a Baler Mode for working with large square balers. The Baler Mode minimises engine speed as well as cab movement by regulating front axle suspension travel.
