New Holland To Showcase CR & CX Combine Upgrades & Preview New High-Capacity Combine At Agritechnica
New Holland Agriculture recently announced plans for its booth at the upcoming Agritechnica 2023, which will take place in Hannover, Germany, in November. The company will showcase updates to the CR Twin Rotor combines and the CX straw walker models as well as offering a preview of a new high-capacity combine design that will become its new flagship model once it enters production.
Updated CR & CX Combines
Both the CR and CX ranges received new panel styling and decals for the 2025 model year, giving them a similar appearance to New Holland’s other farm equipment lines. The combines also have upgraded leather-upholstered ventilated seating that offers heating and cooling as well as increased support. The cab also comes with a new DAB+ radio for a larger range of stations.
The CR line is now equipped with a new right-hand rearview mirror that can be electrically retracted to avoid collisions. Up to three cameras can be factory-installed in different locations and provide views on the in-cab terminal screen to increase safety.
Smoother Driving
The CR7.90 is now available with 24-inch (610-millimeter)-wide heavy-duty belts on SmartTrax units. SmartTrax uses two pairs of jointed rollers which pivot and rotate laterally and vertically to move with the contours of the ground to maximise grip and reduce ground pressure by 57% compared to tyres. For harvest conditions that require a maximum spread of combine weight, fully wheeled CR combines have new tyre options of VF (very high flexion) 620/70 R42 dual wheels/tyres and LSW (low sidewall technology) 1250/35 R46 wide flotation units.
New Tech Features
Dynamic Flow Control, which alters the positions of the vanes on the rotors on the go to adjust to crop conditions, is now available on the CR7.80, CR7.90 & CR 8.80. These models also now have the IntelliSense automated combine management technology available as an option. Dynamic Flow Control and IntelliSense are standard on the CR9.90 and CR10.90.
New models will come from the factory with NutriSense near infrared analysis technology and a 3- or 5-year subscription. The system uses a sensor to monitor crop flow and analyse nutrient contents such as protein, starch, and oil and creates maps that can be correlated with yield and soil sampling maps to plan for harvest, storage, and future planting.
A Peek At What’s To Come
Visitors at Agritechnica will also get a preview of new technology for the 2025 models, including PLM Intelligence for CR combines, a new IntelliView 12 touchscreen terminal, IntelliSteer, and a new weed control management feature.
The star of the booth will undoubtedly be the new high-capacity combine, which will become New Holland’s new flagship model. The new combine is designed for higher throughputs, reduced grain loss, and increased automation.
“Farm consolidation, increased yields, and short harvesting windows are driving the need to continue the evolution of combine capacity, grain retention, and grain protection,” says Lars Sorensen, head of combines and headers at New Holland Agriculture. “This new combine is a market game-changer designed to offer the next level of productivity, competing with anything else available on the market today. In the established range of CR models, we already had a design proven in these respects, topped by a model in the CR10.90 that offered the ultimate proof of its claim to provide the highest productivity in the world. Now we have made further strides in technology and automation, and we have strong feedback from the first farmer tests.”
